Intellectual Property Investigations are a specific area of expertise for Corporate Global Solutions in Latin America.

Latin America ranks high on the Corruption Perception Index1, making brand protection and intellectual property enforcement a challenge for many companies.  CGS has developed extensive experience and knowledge in investigating and resolving brand-protection matters globally, such as the manufacturing and distribution of counterfeit products, stock loss, parallel imports (grey market product) and illegal printing of trademark products.

Through an investigation, CGS will obtain evidence to support legal action, conduct controlled purchases, liaise with authorities to initiate searches of suspect premises and act as a product expert at raids.  CGS will provide statements on behalf of its clients identifying why a product is counterfeit or a parallel import and attend court when required. Corporate Global Solutions manages the investigation throughout and provides the client with continuous updates.

Brand rights holders can protect the integrity of their products when they have registered the appropriate trademarks and added overt and covert security marks.  However, this action alone will not solve the problem.  Corporate Global Solutions can provide expert guidance and assist in enforcing ongoing brand protection programs. CGS can develop anti-counterfeiting strategies to operate alongside a brand protection program. If no programs exist, Corporate Global Solutions, with years of experience gained globally over the past decade, will work to develop a program suitable for its client and seek advice on the most efficient and cost-effective use of overt/covert security features. CGS can gather intelligence from the market, identify new trends, and obtain evidence in order for enforcement action to be taken.  Corporate Global Solutions has conducted training seminars throughout Europe, North America and Latin America to legal authorities on behalf of its clients.
